Can you change what statuses count as "Done" for progress/velocity tacking?

Meagan Meyer January 27, 2022

For example, the only statuses on our JIRA Sprint Board that count as "Done" are "Complete" or "Closed".

We would like to have a "Ready for Integration" status count as "Done" because a lot of the time, we are ready to integrate but cannot do so because of a Business or vendor blocker. This messes with our velocity.

Hi Meagan - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Cards for Sprints are only considered Done or Complete if they are in the very last column on the board (far right), regardless of the status the card is in. So you need to map your "Ready for Integration" status to the very last column of the Sprint board.

I understand your concern but solution you are looking for is not correct.

Ideally, you should use the control chart to monitor the average time spent in 'Ready for Integration' status and try to reduce that by discussing with stakeholders.

To your original question, it can be achieved by mapping statuses to columns. Go to Board->Configure-> Columns to map statuses to columns

"The solution [...] is not correct" => I don't agree.

Scrum teams should adapt their Definition of Done so that they are able to deliver increments within the  timeframe of a sprint.

Meagan should try to reduce time spent in that column, but if that solution has already been tried, then they can adapt their definition of done instead. There should always be some sort of business validation, but that could also be done by the PO instead of stakeholders.
