Can't edit my issues after a chnage in workflow

i changed a live project with a new workflow to introduce a couple of new statuses. When i implemented this change i found that i could not edit issues in the project that were set to Open. The open status was still part of the new workflow.

how can i edit these issues as it is causing a few problems.

Can you check if your workflow step has a property that prevents editing? View step properties.
