Can I move subtasks discretely into and out of a sprint?

Molly Earle August 26, 2013

I'd like to create a sprint using SOME of the subtasks for a given issue, but not all of them. Can I move subtasks into a sprint without moving ALL of them by including the whole issue in the sprint? Let's say I have an issue called "Prepare Data" and then I have a number of sub-tasks for that issue, and I don't expect that I will address all of the subtasks in one sprint (further, I need my team to be able to view the subtasks individually so they can log their time appropriately...). Is it possible to include the subtasks I WANT in a given sprint, and save the others for a future sprint?

In general, you can add/remove issues from an active sprint. Howevever, sub-tasks cannot be moved independently of their parents.

You have to convert subtask to an issue from top right (...) button.

Yes, it is possible.

Inside subtask, goto more tab ->move -> change parent; and here give the new sprint's story's Jira id and it will move. Just changing parent doesn't help as it doesn't reflect on the hours.

With move->change parent, no need to explicitly change parent.

Thanks Shanker. I haven't tried it but it looks like it will work.
