Can I know when one of the JIRA fields gets updated?

Caleb Park February 29, 2024

For example, one of the JIRA custom fields for a Task is called "AAA" and its type is "Select List (single choice)" with three different options : a, b, and c

And let's say I updated the "AAA" JIRA field from a to b two days ago.

Then is there a way to find out what date the "AAA" JIRA field got updated?

Hi @Caleb Park

As an alternative solution, you can try Issue History for Jira from my team. It records changes for all standard and custom fields. You can also select a specific date or date range for which you want to get updates and export the report if you need to.

Here is an example with due dates, but it can be any custom field.

The app is available for Cloud and Data Center users.

Yes, you can get the date by going to the history tab in the issue and then look at when the change happened. There are also a couple of apps in the Marketplace that can make this a bit simpler.

Hi @Mikael Sandberg,

Thank you for your answer!

But I'm trying to use EazyBI to pull out the dates for each custom field's updates.

Instead of just looking at the history tab, can you actually pull out the data with specific dates?

Or at least, can you try to use Search for Issues with JQL to find out what it is?

JQL can search on history using was or changed, but that is limited to just a subset of standard fields like status and resolution, it cannot search on history for custom fields.

Based on the documentation for EazyBI you can report on the history for custom fields, see Import issue change history. I am not sure if you are able to dynamically set the date you want to see the change for, or if you have to change the report in order to do it. That would be a question for an EazyBI expert, which I am not :)

Hi, @Caleb Park

Once you have imported the single value field as a dimension with changes (with the advanced settings @Mikael Sandberg described above), you can use the AAA dimension together with the Issues history measure and Time dimension.

You can configure the Time dimension to show on the day level to see how many issues had each AAA value by the end of each day.

If you need further assistance with configuring the report, please do not hesitate to reach out to support@eazybi.com
