Automation on components

Paul D'urso December 8, 2021

Hi

I'm relatively new to Jira Admin and not particularly technical.

I'm trying to use Automation so that if any of my Epics change or have a component assigned, all Issues and Subtask have the same component.

I've managed to create an automation that adds the component to the issue when it's created in an Epic.

What I can't seem to do is create automation for the subtasks of an issue.

Also if an Epic's component changes, I still want all the issues and subtasks in that epic to reflect the change, moving forward and in the Past.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Paul D'urso

Take a look at his video that keeps parents and subtasks updated on a fixed version change (rule 2). You just need to change it to components.

You may have to create a separate rule.

Many thanks Fabian.

I'll give this a go and let you know if it works.
