Automation : add comment to issue - Jira Teams and not single users

Deleted user September 20, 2021

I have implemented several automation tasks on which depending on the inputs different teams on other locations take care of the activities.

The problem here is that if the team members are changing every 3-5 months then the user getting notifications from automation rules for teams they are no longer members.

Can Jira automation support @commenting to Teams and not Single users?

Hi @[deleted]

There is no such functionalities currently. Not even in smart values (which would be a great addition actually). You can see also this thread here https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/What-is-the-smart-value-to-mention-user-group/qaq-p/1528633

You could possibly do it with the use of apps. Perhaps JMWE has such a functionality.

Hi @[deleted]

Yes, and...to what Alex notes, that linked post describes a work-around of using Send Email rather than a comment mention, and then use an email distribution group in the email's TO address.

And, here are a couple of suggestions to support mention of groups, which you may watch/vote for to see progress:

Kind regards,
Bill
