Automation Rule Based on Tempo Time Reporting Limit

Pasan Gunawardena May 19, 2022

Hi I want to setup a automation rule which will be a scheduled job based on JQL. The JQL condition I want to write is if the total time reported against a project during the current month passes a certain limit, I want to trigger a email notification. I did searched a lot but could not find a way to get the total reported time with above conditions. Can you help me on this please. Thank you very much.

Hi @Pasan Gunawardena

I do not believe you can do that with out-of-the-box JQL features, as there is no summing feature.  There are probably Atlassian Marketplace addons for JQL to do this.

As a work-around, you could use JQL with a scheduled trigger to check on Worklog Date, and then sum the time logged in the rule for your threshold check:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/advanced-search-reference-jql-fields/#Worklog-date

I recommend getting your JQL to do what you want first, and then try using it in a rule to check the worklog data/smart values:

Kind regards,
Bill
