Hi,

I just installed JIRA. Tried to search for an addon. Nothing is shown.

Tried manage existing adons. Shows an option to update the UPM.

Clicked on update, shows the following error:

An error was encountered while updating the UPM. See the logs for more details.

Downloaded the UPM and uploaded it. Same error message.

Please advise.

I find multiple atlassian-universal-plugin-manager-plugin.jar files.

1. Shutdown Jira service

2. delete old atlassian-universal-plugin-manager-plugin.jar files

3. copy new one  from https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/23915/atlassian-universal-plugin-manager?hosting=server&tab=overview

4. rebooted server.

Another reason that causes this is by not using the right URL to update the UPM. 

E.G if we use the shortname instead of the FQDN it will throw an error updating the UPM

Check the application logs in the atlassian-jira.log file to figure out the details of the error. You can find the file under JIRA_HOME/log folder.
