I have to upgrade our Jira instance from 7.2.3 to the latest stable version of 8.2x. Right now it is hosted on RHEL6. The new server will be RHEL8. We are doing this to get to a supported version in advance of moving to cloud in 2024. We attempted to use Project Configurator to help with migrating between older to newer versions, but were stopped by Java errors. We don't have a development environment, so am not comfortable making changes to Java unless it is part of a Jira upgrade step. My question here is, has anyone gone through this? Do I have to step through each and every version to get to a supported version, hopefully 8.2x? It looks like it will be a tremendous effort that will require many, many maintenance windows. Starting my planning in part by asking this community.
