Plug-ins for Burndown chart for Slack?

I want to give my team better visibility into their burndown after each sprint. We use Slack a lot, especially since everyone is remote. I would like the burndown chart to appear after the sprint is closed out into a Slack channel instead of copying the image from Jira and pasting it into Slack.

Also, curious into how others provide visibility into their burndown chart.

Hi Vildana,

The first consideration is that the burndown chart is rendered in the browser rather than being served up as an image by Jira. Would I be right in assuming you're taking a screenshot of it if you're posting an image to Slack?

I'm not currently aware of any apps that will capture, render, and post the burndown chart as an image into Slack. However, you can approximate something useful without too much effort.

In order to have something post without any effort on your end, it would be the most straightforward to put a message with just a link to the burndown chart to remind people to view it. You can copy the link from the Burndown Chart link in the sidebar (getting it from the URL bar will include a parameter for a specific sprint, and you don't want that for this).

Then in Slack, you can use the /remind command to have Slackbot send a message to the channel at the time you specify. As an example:

/remind #awesome-team "Good morning! Take a quick peek at the burndown chart to see how we've done. Thanks! https://yoursite.atlassian.net/burndownlink" every Tuesday

Or extending that with some message formatting, you can get fancy (swapping in your own link of course):

/remind #awesome-team “Good morning! <https://yoursite.atlassian.net/burndownlink|*Take a quick peek at the burndown chart to see how we’ve done.*> Thanks! https://media.giphy.com/media/3orieVe5VYqTdT16qk/giphy.gif” every Tuesday

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi @Daniel Eads

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, your assumption is right!

What you're suggesting is much better than copying and pasting the chart into Slack!

Much appreciated!

@Daniel Eads thank you for sharing that awesome workaround.

Hi @vildana_ermaya

You can schedule Burndown chart to be delivered to any Slack channel using our plugin Troopr.

We send velocity chart automatically to configured Slack channel on Sprint end. However you can choose to configure Burndown chart in 3 easy steps:

Troopr supports several other standard and custom charts/reports and is compatible with Jira Server, Data Center and Cloud.
