Managing a really long "Done" column

holly November 12, 2019

In several of our Kanban boards, the "Done" column has become excessively long. So much so that scrolling through the page takes a bit of time. We need all of those items there so that we can search and find info. pertaining to those completed tasks. Is there any way to truncate the cards so that they take up less space? Has anyone found a way to manage a really long "Done"column while still having the tasks available and searchable?

Hi Holly - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Usually, a project administrator will do a release of the cards on a regular basis. Out teams typically do those weekly. Doing a release clears the cards from the board, but they are always still in the system and can be searched for.

We also often create a Hide Done quick filter for each board. The Quick Filter JQL will look like: Status != Done

When you click on that Quick Filter after it is created the Done cards will temporarily be hidden.

But the best solution is to do a release on a frequent basis.

I hope that helps!
