JIRA tasks changed status without any user action

Conor O'Carroll August 1, 2018

Hi folks,

Just checking if anyone has encountered an issue similar to ours today.

We've encountered a couple of issues where several of our JIRA tasks across several projects changed their statuses with no user action.

More annoyingly several active workflow statuses have been changed, something I didn't think possible: One project has a status changed from 'Open' to 'backlog' meaning I had to rebuild the workflow.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this perhaps an active bug that Atlassian is aware of?

This sounds like one of your administrators has been renaming status without considering that they might be shared.

To confirm this, first check the issues that have "changed with no user action" - if there are no status changes in their history that reflect what you're seeing, then it can only be the name changes.

Second, check the admin audit log, hopefully it was enabled at the time the changes were made, so you'll be able to see an admin renaming things.
