Looking for a good way to track "tasks" within a sub-task. We have a story with several sub-tasks to complete that story but the sub-tasks themselves also have specific steps. Right now our dev team just puts in comments with the hours worked by editing the sub-task but the comments are getting out of control. I need to find a way to track sub-tasks within sub-tasks for better tracking and management. Any suggestions would be appreciated of solutions you have used.
You could try going with the Task issue type for the issues that are divided into sub-tasks. In such a setup, you would have a Story with Tasks linked to it, which in their turn would have Sub-tasks - this is a much more transparent structure, IMO.
Another way to handle this is to treat your Story as an Epic - then the structure will be Epic -> Stories -> Sub-tasks.
