Hep, Import has failed

I have attempted to import data from an old Jira instance into a Jira free instance.

The import has failed at the following stage:

StatusImport stage 
SUCCESSProcessing your Jira backup 
SUCCESSProcessing your Jira and plugin data 
SUCCESSUpdating the database 
SUCCESSImporting attachments and avatars 
FAILEDSynchronizing users and groups 
NOT_STARTEDActivating Jira 

I am now getting this following message and cannot get into my site:

Jira is locked for import but no import could be found. This is likely to be a temporary issue and should clear up within one minute. If you continue to see this error, please contact support.

I don't need the users or groups importing since I am planning on reassigning everything anyway. Any ideas how I get the site up and running again?

I'm suffering the same problem trying to do a basic import. I have a premium subscription and still no support 2 days later. :( 

Do not perform an import as this doesn't appear to work unless you have a paid subscription already as Atlassian won't even talk too you. With Premium I'm still waiting days later. :(

2 days with no comments! IS there anyone from Jira support that can help with this - I cannot get into my site!
