Automation rule to create the sub task and assign the status based on Parent

Syamala Uggina May 8, 2020

Dear All,

Need your inputs.

Here comes my Automation Requirement.

When I create a sub task to already existing story and if the status of the story is "To do, "In Progress" or "Ready for testing"

Then my created sub task should have the " To do" status by default instead of Backlog.

If Story is in backlog the sub task created too should have the same status.

Did any one tried this rule?

Hi @Syamala Uggina ,

I think you can achieve this by creating automation rule, that will transition the Sub-task from "Backlog" to "To do" status, if the parent (story) is in one of the statuses "To do", "In Progress" or "Ready for testing".

So, basically, all the Sub-tasks will be always created to the same status, but under some circumstances will be automatically transitioned to the other status.

I have a number of tasks that get created in different projects which each need a different status set to them when they are created. Is there a way to do that?
