Assigning template to a story in Jira

I have created a template which would use the labels supported and create sub-tasks.  I would like to assign this template to stories so that the sub-tasks could be part of the stories.  I used to see the template list in 'Create multiple sub-tasks' menu item.  But it doesn't show up the template list at all.  Is this not possible any more? Please clarify how to assign a template to a story?

You are using Quick Subtasks for JIRA plugin? What version?

What does it mean - assign a template to a story? Is Story a sub-task or regular issue type?
