I think I'm using custom fields in forms incorrectly. I have a handful of custom fields that I'm using in a request's Context fields. In my user form I want to prompt and provide dropdowns etc. for these fields. However, every time I make a change to the Request itself I get this message and have to re-link the form fields.
I know I'm probably just not using the correct process. What's the best practice here please?
Hi @iain mackenzie!
I think what you are seeing is intended behavior. If you try to change the form field that is attached to a Custom Field via the "Linked Jira field" it will warn you and unlink them in my experience.
How I go about this is that I always create the form without linked fields, and only start linking them when I'm happy with how the form looks. That way you don't encounter said message unless you actually are making changes to already live and published forms, in which it is intended to warn you about the unlinking as it can lead to issues down the line.
But perhaps you could try to describe your problem a little bit more in depth? It might be easier to give some better response then.
Thanks Tobias this was really helpful. Being new to JSM it just felt like i might not be going about this the right way.
