Is there a way to allow email replies to send to the portal requests?.
example. a customer sent a request via the portal including a number of participants, one or more participants reply to the email that is sent to them, this is not getting back to the portal/ticket.
Should be able to use both I would have thought?

Indeed you can. If the users are request participants on an issue if the reply it should be a comment visible in portal.
