Searching by ticket by reporter name rarely works

If I try to search for a ticket by reporter name in the main search box it usually doesn't find anything. I created a filter to search by name but that is a few extra steps that I don't want to take.

Is there a way to make the main search box fine a ticket by reporter name?

@Wendy Morency You will need to use the proper syntax in your search when searching in the quick search located in the toolbar.  r: is used to search for the reporter.    More information about quick search can be found here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/perform-a-quick-search/
