Properties for Approval button

Hello,
I faced with one confused situation for me.
I want to create new workflow from any default workflow with open button in start workflow and approval button in the middle of workflow and i did it.
But I don`t understand about properties in Open button and Approval button.
Can anybody explain me about it.
