Multiple Permission

Can I give different permission for difference level like staff request a laptop, supervisor approve and then manager approve then go to Procurement to approve purchase.

Hi @Addison Lee

Like stated already you'll most likely use the standard approval mechanism for this (by defining a certain step as an approval).

However JIRA does not have an approval "flow" for a specific request type, hence if you require to have different approval hierarchies based on the request type (first superviser, then manager, then purchasing) you'll have to model that in your issue type flow.

Imho you have 2 options:

  1. Add a single approval step on your workflow (like exists in Service Request with approvals) and add all your approvers immediatly. This would however mean that purchasing can approve first and superviser second, so you have no control over the order of the approvals. You can set it on the step that all approvals need to be done before you can move forward.
  2. If however you'd like it to go through a flow of approvals (1 then 2 then 3) you'll have to model it in the workflow of your issue type (e.g. service request). There you'll have to create your own path and (possibly based on custom fields that you populate by default on the Request Type) force an issue to go through the correct flow. 

 

If you go route 2 I suggest to keep the flow as generic as possible to be able to re-use it for each request type.

A specific flow for each Request type (as a secondary flow to the issue type) is something that is missing in JIRA.

It is customisable in your workflow by clicking "Add approval" on a status.

Sure, you just need to add the approval steps on each status of the workflow.

With Jira Service Desk you can have multiple approvers for the issues, so the issue will only continue in the workflow if the approval is conceded, otherwise, it can be rejected.
