Missing history, incorrect transition


We have Jira version  7.6.11, 

On a lot of issues occures missingrecords in history, and also missing record of transition.  

Issues have set Status, but in history is not record about it. 

How you can see in the pictures, Issue has set status "In Solution" but in history we dont have record, how its went from "Prepare Solution" to "In Solution". 

And second case, (another picture) issue is in status "Closed" but in history is only "In Progress". 

This caused, events was not fired, some postfunctions ran wrong. 

We guess problem can be in Jira system postfunction "Update change history for an issue and store the issue in the database", because we also dont have record in database. Can you tell how this postfunction works? And what type of problem it could be?

You have something that is breaking your issues, quite badly.

There are only two ways I can think of doing this

  • Setting the status in the database instead of using the API
  • A very poorly written plugin or script setting the status directly, instead of using the transition process

To help diagnose this, start by picking any issue that has broken like this and look at its workflow. 

  • Does it have a transition from the old status to the new one (that has not been recorded)?
  • Can the issue now be moved to another status in the UI by using a transition?
  • In the transition it should have gone through to get to the current status, what postfunctions are there, and in what order?
