Missing Create Issue option on Automation

Vish Varsani April 26, 2021

Hi All

I'm trying to set up an automation exactly as described here;

https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskcloud/blog/2017/12/automatically-create-linked-issues-from-new-requests

However on my THEN statement, i don't get an open to Create Issue. Even if i manually type over the values to force it, i can't get it to work.

The conditions are;

  • WHEN: Issue Created
  • IF: Summary = "New User"
  • THEN: (this is where i want to add multiple Create Issues)

Has anyone ever come across this before?

Hi @Vish Varsani ,

An interesting blog post that you came across here. Unfortunately, this one has two problems concerning your scenario:

  • The post was related to Jira Cloud instead of Jira Server/Data Center
  • Even for Jira Cloud, this action is not available for legacy automation (anymore?)

That said, for Jira Server and Data Center, you will have to look for an additional workflow app capable of creating issues (see https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?category=Workflow&product=jira).

As an example, Jira Workflow Toolbox being one among those, has a dedicated 'Create issue' post function.

Cheers
Thorsten
