We are already using Jira Server with a planned migration to Jira Cloud later this year. Before this happens we are also looking to implement Jira Service Management as a support ticketing system, I know tickets in Jira SM can be escalated to Jira Cloud, but until we migrate to Jira Cloud if we start using Jira SM can tickets also be escalated to our existing Jira Server system in the meantime?
Hi @Andy Hindle
This is Dhiren from Exalate.
Exalate, provides a fully bi-directional synchronization between Jira(Cloud,Server,Data Center) and Jira(Cloud,Server,Data Center) among other ITSM systems that is fully customizable. It is easy to set up and the entire customization can be configured using a no-code interface.
You can even integrate between Jira Software, Jira Service Management (Service Desk) to achieve your integration requirements.
If you would like to see a customized demo of the product in action, feel free to book a slot with us.
Thanks
Dhiren
Hi. Take a look at Backbone issue sync!

Is a third party application the only solution, surely Jira SM must talk to Jira Server out of the box?

You can add an application link and you will be able to link issues of two instances but my understanding is you cannot move issue between them.

@Andy Hindle hi. A 3rd party app is an option. In the end, it all depends on your needs and desires.
If you're considering using such, you can take a look at ZigiOps. It's a no-code tool that works bi-directionally and allows you to transfer (and sync) any fields and data between the two systems you plan to connect. It's flexible and allows you to tailor it to fit particular use cases. Feel free to take a look at it and if want to see it in action (with particular scenarios/use cases) you can always book a demo.
