I am curious if there is a way that I can add label(s) to a project at the project level?
My company has a need to group projects or service desks into common tags/labels and I can't seem to find a way to do this natively.
Are there plugins that allow this kind of functionality?
Can I tie any permissions to these labels and then the users somehow?
Is this something that Agents would have control of or just Admins?
Thank you,
AJ
Hi AJ:
In Jira/JSM out of the box, there is a concept called "Categories" at the project level. You will need to work with your Jira/JSM Admin team to create the needed categories. Once created, your JSD project admin can then go to "Project settings" and click on the "Details" option and assigned the project with the project category.
You cannot associate permissions against the Category. This is just a way to group your projects. An agent will not be able to conduct this activities. It will requires someone with JSD project admin right to set the category association + the project category dropdown list is maintained by the Jira/JSM system admins.
Hope this helps.

The cool thing about project categories is that you can use them in your JQLs too

Yep - "category = x" fetches all the issues in projects in category x - very useful for some reporting!

Oh how exciting! I actually didn't know you could use that in JQL. Thank you for sharing that @Peter Bengov and @Nic Brough _Adaptavist_ .
@Joseph Chung Yin - Are you able to apply multiple categories to a single project?
And would you know of any Plug-ins or Add-ons which allow this kind of functionality?

I'm afraid a project can only be in one category at a time.
You might want to look at the "profields" app, which can add fields at a project level though. That might help you with categorisation of projects too.
