Hi, we are a team of 5 IT Support Users using Jira Service Management as our standart ITSM Tool. We now want to implement Insight as a CMDB.
Now we had the idea that out purchasing team can also access the CMDB to see all purchased items and also edit it if needed. But they schould not get access to the ITSM projects, only to the CMDB. What licence would they need? Do they need the full JSM licence?

To use insights you need a JSM license.
If you set up your projects permissions correctly they wont have access to the projects.

For cloud you need jsm premium license only for the agents that will be managing the jsm queues. Once you have the jsm license, anyone in the jira instance with jira sifwareccan be allowed to access insight configurations.

Yes, they can do both.

Beware tho on how they will be able to access those Insight objects. On cloud a JSM license is required to interact with the objects. Viewing them should be possible with just a JSW license.

Is there a way for Service Desk customers to view and select insight objects without consuming a JSM licence?

If your customers go through the portal you are able to make the Assets available through an Assets custom field.
They will be able to select the Assets you make available to them through the AQL on the field (and have them filtered as well)
