I want to have a custom description template per issue type and I think I've done this wrong?

As stated I'd like to have a custom description template for each issue type within my project.

I've got this working in a round about way by creating a custom description field per issue type and creating a context with a default value for each issue description type field (I couldn't seem to create a custom context per issue type within the same project sad). This works but is cumbersome because if an issue transitions from one type to another via a Move the issue type specific description field the issue WAS is no longer shown and the new issue type specific description is shown and is EMPTY because it was never given a value.

I've also tried creating an automation to get around this issue w/o much success.

Have I done this wrong? Is there a way I can use a SINGLE custom field with a different default value per issue type?
