In Jira SD Cloud - Does anyone know of a way to display a limited list of users in the 'Approvers' field, where the list of users displayed is based on the value of another custom field (and not every user in Jira that can be an approver)?
We do not want to show all possible approvers all the time; we want to show a subset of possible approvers based on value of another field (for ex: company).
- If company = ABC, then only display users xx,yy,zz in the Approvers field
- If company = ACME, then display users aaa,bbb,ccc, etc
I already reviewed the pending Atlassian feature requests; they all seem to be related to the ability to limit the users displayed in the Approvers field based on customer organinzation (which I agree is needed and I voted on!).
But my question is specific to limiting the list of users displayed based on a custom field.
For the portal: Typically I'd use 'Extension Jira Service Desk' app to display certain fields based on another field's value, but then I'd need a custom field for every company, ex: ABC_Approvers, ACME_Approvers, etc. one custom field for each company value. While this is not great, I'd do it anyway, EXCEPT ....
For the Agent view: there is no 'Dynamic fields for Jira' app to do the same kind of logic in Jira Cloud (as there is for Jira Server).
Using a cascading field to do this - I don't see that it can be done in conjunction with a user picker; so it would have to be done with a text field, then have automation behind the scenes populate the actual Approvers field from the cascading text field.
** so my question remains. Has anyone already done something like this before I reinvent the wheel?
