Group is used in JSM Approvals - Group Picker Custom Fields and I can't remove them

I want to change the name of a group but am getting this error message:

I cannot find out how to remove the group.  The field doesn't come up in custom fields for me to change its values.
In Issue view I get this:

In request form, I get this:

With no option to change the preset values. Any ideas?

Hi @Judy Forrister I believe I've figured this out. You have to ensure the group isn't set as a default value for the field, AND ALSO you must edit any issue that has that group selected within the field.

I found this while trying to rename the default "administrators" group, it was erroring out stating it was used in two Jira sites, my sandbox and primary site. After ensuring the group wasn't set as the default for the "Approver groups" field, I also removed it from that field in all of the issues it was used within my sandbox. I then tried to edit the group name again, and this time the error message stated it was only being used within my primary Jira site. I assume I'll be able to edit the group name once I remove it from the issues within my primary site.

hi, now I am fighting with kind of the the same problem.

I would like to edit the group name: ITSM admin

but I receive this notification: Screenshot 2024-10-01 at 10.53.05.png

I cannot find an option to remove this group from the "Approver groups" custom field.

I tried to solve this by deselecting all the screens associated to this field, so it should not be used, still cannot change the user group name.... also hiding it does not help.

Checked and this group is not a default product access group.

Any ideas how I could change the name of this group?

I don't have an answer, but the same issue, so @Judy Forrister did you figure this one out, did you find where to remove the group?

Hi Judy and welcome to the community. 

I wonder if that group is set as the default group for that custom field, and you say that you cannot find the custom field JSM approvals in your custom field list?

Also I see that it refers to your sandbox environment - make sure to switch over to that environment.

I am looking in Sandbox but can't find anywhere to remove that as the default group for the custom field. The 'Approver Groups' field doesn't appear anywhere when I search custom fields.

The screenshots etc above are all from sandbox.
