Group Permissions for Dashboards

Dale Kalsow May 20, 2024

Hi, I am new to administrating Jira Service Management.  I see when I create a new dashboard on of the options I have is to set the Viewers property by Group.  Where do I go to setup those groups?

Thanks

@Dale Kalsow Welcome to the Atlassian community

You should be able to share a dashboard using any of the following:

  • Group—A group of Jira users.

  • Project—All members or members with specific project roles working on one or multiple projects.

  • Any logged-in user—Any user who is logged in to your Jira Cloud site.

  • Public—Public sharing means sharing the dashboard with users who are not logged in to your Jira Cloud site. Note that if you share a dashboard publicly, it will be visible and searchable on the internet. See Prevent or remove public access for more information.

  • User—An individual user.

A group is a created and administered within Jira by a Jira administrator.   https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-and-update-groups/

Because this is something that they can only administrer I would suggest using Project or a specific project role.  Hopefully you are a project admin and then it would allow you to manage access to that dashboard.

Hi Dale - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Groups are added under User Management administration. Settings > User Management.

You must have Organization Admin permissions or User Management permissions.
