Form submitter ID

Marinka Ryan September 26, 2022

Hello all,

We are capturing data from a submitted form to write to an issue comment and would like to include some identifier of the (external) user who submitted the form (i.e. name), but can't find a value. Does anyone know if there is one?

Thanks!

@Marinka Ryan -

Welcome to the community.  Are you referring to the FORMs component design associated with JSM.  If so, are you using the FORM submission to create the JSM issue?

Please advise, so we can assist you further.

We are not using the form to create an issue but rather to update an issue. The form is created (using automation) when an issue is created and the form is then available in the client portal for the external client to update (we are also trying to find a way to reopen the form after each submission but that is a different issue!). When the client updates the fields in the form we are writing the changes to a comment, but would like to capture some form of identification of the person who made the changes. Thanks

@Marinka Ryan -

Currently, it is my understanding that Atlassian is still working on getting FORMs related REST APIs available for the CLOUD env.  With that being said, it is not possible to retrieve the FORM submitter information using automation rules.

The only available FORMs related automation rules are provided in the following link - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management-articles/4-New-Form-Automation-Components-for-Jira-Service-Management/ba-p/2018674

One thing for your consideration is for you to include in your FORM's configuration to map submitter information to an JSM issue's field, you can then access the issue field's content in your automation.

You may also want to contact Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com) for further updates/enhancements regarding FORMs.

Best, Joseph
