Feature Lab "Find similar requests" - How does it work?

Fabian Dengel September 21, 2022

We are interested in getting to know more about the Feature Lab "Find similar requests" feature - Is there any more documentation available apart from the KB page Find similar requests | Jira Service Management Cloud | Atlassian Support?

One particular question is, whether this feature only works for issues inside the same project or does it aggregate similar issues across the whole instance?

Thanks in advance and kind regards
Fabian

Hello @Fabian Dengel

Thank you for reaching out.

The "Find similar requests" feature looks for summary and description text with similar meanings. Basically, it uses NLP techniques that allow us to compare the text of the issue and rank them (descending) on their semantic distance (closeness in meaning).

Indeed, it will only search the most recently created issues in the project, so it may not find recent queue results to compare to and display empty in certain circumstances. E.g: Issues from a different project.

As this is a lab feature, our PMs are currently looking for feedback and new ideas on how to improve its functionality, so please feel free to send us any improvement ideas you have by using the feedback form:

Hey @Petter Gonçalves

Many thanks for sharing the details, good to know for our further planning around this functionality! We'll pick up the feedback function too. On that note: Could you please further define the timeframe of "recent" out of curiosity?

Thanks and kind regards,
Fabian
