Enabling SSL on Service Desk 4.13 Installed on Windows Server 2019

Mike Robertson November 5, 2020

Hello,

Our company is new to this product and I have been asked to get SSL going on the Service Desk website.  I am trying to follow this:https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/running-jira-applications-over-ssl-or-https-938847764.html

However, since the windows installer was used, the instructions dont quite apply from what I can see.  If the JDK is installed with the windows installer, how do I know what version of JDK was used?  Where should the JAVA_HOME point to?  If anyone has a step by step guide on setting up this on Windows Server, that would be awesome.  Thanks.

Mike,

Welcome to the community.  If you are running your instance on a Windows Server the 'Windows Installer' installs its own Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Java platform, which is used to run Tomcat. When updating SSL certificates, please do so in this JRE installation.  You can see what JRE it is using depending on how you are running it.  Manual start would be in setenv.bat file and service you will need to identify the service and then review the Java tab. More information here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/change-the-java-version-used-by-jira-server-765594330.html

One other item to consider, are you running IIS and a proxy?  If you are setting up the SSL certificate will be different.
