Custom Field not available to link to Form Field

Hello

I'm in the process of creating a new Form in order to attach it to a request type. Unfortunately i'm unable to link a particular custom field with a field in the Form. The custom field just does not show up in the "Linked Jira Field"-Dropdown. Other custom fields do show up.

The Custom Field is of the type "Select List (cascading)" and it is added to the project in question. I'm even able to add the field in the Request Form of the Request Type.

What are possible reasons for a custom field to not show up in the "Linked Jira Field"-Dropdown?

Thank you for the quick answer. It really baffles me that they choose to just hide elements if they are not available, leaving Admins searching for them, instead of indicating them greyed out and showing the reason for unavailability when hovering over it with the mouse.
