Copy link from subtask to parent

Tomas Kondelka August 19, 2014

In our project user is demanding functionality that would copy the value of the "links to" field in subtask and add it in the parrent issue.

Example: If subtask is set to fail, user is forced to fill in the link to specific bug. For better tracking of the bugs they want this bug which is currently linked to subtask to appear in parent issue type as well.

You could use the post function "copy value form sub-task to parent" of Workflow Essentials for JIRA (paid add-on).

If it is during a transition, you can accomplish that with this plugin:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.innovalog.jmwe.jira-misc-workflow-extensions

With it, you can create a post function that copies the value from the sub-task to the parent. Just create a post function of type: "Copy field value to parent".

You can read more about post functions here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Advanced+workflow+configuration#Advancedworkflowconfiguration-postfunctions

I hope it was helpful.

Kind regards.
