The client has the role Service Desk Customer
He can access the form on the portal but the field "Manager" (user list) is empty .

The client is also part of the group "Browse users and groups" in the Global permissions

This is a real problem .. and I can't seem to find the solution.
Any help would appreciated

Please check for the customer permission, Project settings > Channels > Customer permissions.
Select the last option there.
