I have added two example Custom Fields
SomeNumber_asText as a Text Field (single line)
SomeNumber_asNumber as a Number Field
Both have their respective default Search Template
Both are added to the screens as desired
Both are listed in a basic Queue in the TEAM PRIORITY Queue
Both show up in the Queue with their raw data as input (1234)
I can click and order SomeNumber_asNumber as it is a Number field
I can not click and order SomeNumber_asText.
Even if I insist in the JQL for the Filter for the Queue, it acts like it will order it, and does not.
The client does not want to use a Number field, as they do not want the commas or positive negative or decimal values.

At this stage, this isn't available in the Queue view unfortunately
