Hi Atlassian Community,
I have a question regarding the use of Jira Service Management. Our organization is interested in implementing Jira Service Management for our IT and customer support needs. However, we do not currently use Jira Software, nor do we have plans to subscribe to it in the near future.
1. Is it possible to use Jira Service Management as a standalone product without a Jira Software subscription ?
2. Are there any limitations or functionalities that we would miss out on by not having Jira Software ?
3. Would the administration and configuration of Jira Service Management be fully supported without Jira Software ?
We aim to streamline our service desk operations and want to ensure we are making an informed decision.
Thanks

Hi Rajat,
Welcome to Atlassian Community! I notice others have already quoted you with direct answers. On the same lines, I have acknowledged your questions inline -
1. Is it possible to use Jira Service Management as a standalone product without a Jira Software subscription ?
Yes, it is possible to use Jira Service Management (JSM) as a standalone product without a Jira Software subscription. JSM can function independently and offers a range of features for service management and customer support.
2. Are there any limitations or functionalities that we would miss out on by not having Jira Software ?
Yes, there are certain functionalities that you would miss out on if you only have Jira Service Management and not Jira Software. Jira Software is specifically designed for software development teams and it includes features like agile reporting, customizable workflows, and advanced development tool integrations which are not available in Jira Service Management

3. Would the administration and configuration of Jira Service Management be fully supported without Jira Software.
The administration and configuration of Jira Service Management (JSM) can be fully supported without Jira Software. JSM is a standalone product and has its own set of administrative and configuration settings
Hope the information is helpful.
