I am evaluating JIRA Service Desk and wondering if it will integrate with SugarCRM directly or it must go through a 3rd party software such as Zapier or Podbox.

I believe plugin of https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.jira.plugin.customfield.crm/server/overview#hosting Group2Go should be able to facilitate it.
But haven't checked this out yet.
