not able to import organization and request type

Hi,

I tested with the cloud external system import tool and using the csv file format for service_desk project type.

The organization & request type fail to import. Checked the setting are correctly spelled. Does anyone encounter this warning message before? What have I miss? Thanks

Hi Angeline!

Hope you're doing great!

It's "known" that Service Desk stores Request Type and other fields in a "proprietary" format. There's an open Bug (with a workaround) for Request type here:

I'm pretty sure (but ca't find the query) you can achieve the same for Organizations. As soon as you know the IDs, you can use them! Another option is to create a request with the type you want and the organization you want, and check the custom fields values in DB to get their storage format!

I found a way to get the internal names for the request types that doesn't require submitting a ticket with Atlassian.

  1. Create a sample issue for each of your Jira Service Desk request types on your project.
  2. Create a report that returns the issues you just created.
  3. Use the download icon in the top right corner of the report (hover labeled "Export this filter in another format") and download the list using the "Export Excel CSV (all fields)" option.
  4. Open up the CSV and find the field named "Custom field (Request Type)".

The rows contain the internal name of the custom field for each request type. They are in the form "<project_label><GUID>".
