I am a global admin and service desk team member, but for some reason when adding msyelf to a ticket for approval, I get an (unable to find user) response. I can add everyone else in the organization except myself. any insight would be fantastic.

Are you the reporter of the issue or is in another role in this ticket?
Some roles are not possible to be assigned as approver, due to restrictions on JIRA.
