Speed concern with JSD Cloud

Izabella Cikalova December 13, 2019

We migrated to Jira cloud and we are planning to use JSD Cloud soon. We have concerns regarding the speed on Jira Cloud - it takes time to load page with many issues. Now when we plan to use JSD Cloud as well our main concern is that we may experience the same problem and it could be even slower. Have any of you experienced this kind of issue and how did you resolve it?

All of the speed problems I've seen with Cloud have been down to:

  • Temporary problems with Cloud servers (rare, and don't last long)
  • Really bad configuration ("Fielditis", pointlessly long workflows, bloated lists of dropdowns that people just stick random data in because they've got no way to work out which option is actually useful, and so-on)
  • The network between the client and the server.  Mostly, this has been geographic - a client in London accessing a Cloud service located in Australia is going to see more latency than if the server were in the UK.

I'd start with a look at your network connection to Cloud.  99% of "it's slow" problems with Cloud are down to the network being slow.  It's not entirely that - Jira (including JSD) sends a LOT of data, it's not exactly optimised for slow networks.   But there's nothing we can do about that, you just need a fast network connection to Cloud.
