We have enabled all of our customers through our Active Directory and do not want to allow the Service Desk agent to create customers. Is it possible to remove the Add Customer and Add Organization buttons from the Customer view?

Hi Derek,

At the current time, I don't know of a way to hide that specific functionality in service desk.  However other users have requested the ability to disable this before in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDSERVER-5463

While thinking about this setup and this problem, perhaps there might be a way to prevent Agents from actually creating new users to a Jira instance though.

If your AD instance is setup to Jira to use either Read only or read only with local groups, then we know Jira can't create new accounts there.   If you were then to disable the JIRA internal directory in Jira, and that AD is the only other user directory, there would be no other way to create any accounts in Jira.

But this would apply to the entire Jira instance, not just this one Service Desk project.  Also this method has a potential pitfall.  Jira is much more dependent on the connection to the LDAP instance in this setup.  If Jira can't communicate to that AD/LDAP server, no users can login in that setup.   This can be worked around if you have direct access to the Jira database and can restart Jira, but just something to think about.

I hope this helps,

Andy
