Jira service desk email reply missing from request participant

We are using JIRA v6.3.14 with SD v2.3.2 and when a 'Request participant' replies via email SD never receives the update/comment.

How can we troubleshoot this issue? It is causing quite some frustration for the customers using SD.

Looking at the SD 'Email settings/view log/processing log I found that the user actually replied using a different email address. So I guess me new question should be how to add multiple email addresses for participants?
