Jira Service Desk Database Sizing for new installation

Thomas Dalessandro November 3, 2017

Hello,

Would anyone be able to tell me how to estimate the size of the database for Service Desk Server? Its going to be a small instance in house.

I can't find anything about sizing the database in the documentation.

Thanks!

Service Desk is an application that adds functions to a plain Jira.  For SD, I'd take a core Jira install, and add maybe 10% to give SD that extra bit it might need.

Hi, Thomas!

I can provide a small installation size:

~500k issues (minimum 3 comment per issue)

~30-40 custom fields

~ 15 projects

~ 400 users

Mysql dump is 12GB, database size 19-21 GB (include indexes)

And for testing env used a H2 database (max ~10k issues, 10 users) - it is differents from 1.8GB to 5GB. Size changing because for generate data I have used data generator, hence custom field has a big value for sizes.

For my home installation I reserved 7GB for database. It is extra enough (~300MB for ~600 issues, ~40 custom fields, 3 users).

Cheers,
