Initial configuration for JIRA Service desk and Confluence to run on same server port 80 under MySQL

Network Administrator September 13, 2017

Hi Atlassians,

We are new to JIRA, had setup a test box using your standard internal database and it worked OK. We now plan to also use confluence with JIRA and insight on the same server but want to use MySQL instead. There is a LOT of documentation and most of it makes sense but we have speficic questions on getting this right the first time. Can you please assist us ASAP with initial config. We have the new Server 2012 R2 with JIRA installed and have installed MySQL 7 (compatible version) so far.

Hi David,

The first thing you'll need to do is transfer the database from the built-in database to the MySQL database.  You'll want to make sure you setup the MySQL database according to the instructions in Connecting JIRA applications to MySQL.  Be sure to use one of the compatible versions:

  • 5.7
  • 5.6
  • 5.5

Once you have the database moved you'll want to deal with the proxy.  You can find instructions to setup a proxy in the following articles depending on what you'll be using:

Running JIRA applications over SSL or HTTPS

Integrating JIRA with Apache using SSL

Integrating JIRA applications with IIS

Integrating JIRA with Nginx

Cheers,

Branden
