On the ticket level, I would like to make dependent drop down menues with the following criteria:
Menu 1 has 6 options in the drop down menu, which can be selected.
Menu 2:
If option 4 is selected in menu 1, this menu should show 8 specefic options. If menu 6 is selected, other other specific options should be shown in the drop down etc.
Can this be achieved through Cascading custom fields?
Have you tried using the Select Field (Cascading)? It gives you a two level select lists.

I don't believe that behaviour is possible with JIRA. However with the scriptrunner plugin OR the Intenso JSD Extensions it is possible.
