Would anyone happen to know if it is possible to associate a Component with a SLA? Currently, I can only see that an SLA is affected by particular ticket events such as responses, approvals, etc.

No it is not. If you meant triggering SLA based on component.
If however you mean having a different SLA for issues with a particular component, this should be possible.
I do not see where I can associate a Component with a particular SLA though.
