Autopopulate Forms With Elements Connect

Jason Bessonette April 18, 2019

I am able to connect the API so I can return the data in the current field, but what I want is for the other fields in the form to be populated based on the value selected. For example, I have a custom field for client name and one for client entity (facility). So if I select a person based on these criteria, I want to have their user name, account manager, and any other data entered into the form.

Is this possible?

Hello Jason,

Yes, it's possible: with velocity, you can add dependencies between fields.

We have an example in the product documentation: https://valiantys.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NFEED512X/pages/99942710/Display+related+data+with+read-only+fields

The full list of Velocity variables supported by Elements Connect is here: https://valiantys.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NFEED512X/pages/99942470/Velocity+context

If you need more support on this configuration, could you please use our dedicated portal?

https://support.elements-apps.com/portal - our support is faster there ;)

I was able to follow the instructions you presented to make the fields populate how I wish. However, now, before data is entered I get the following error: Unable to access URL 'http://URL'. Server returned 'Not Found (404' : http://URL The URL being displayed is correct and works when user data is entered.

As soon as data is entered, all of the errors go away. How can I make it so the field is not attempting to fetch data before user entry is recorded?

I figured out how to enter a request into your portal.
