Approval Emails depending on Status

Hello,

I have a workflow I am trying to implement which has two stages of approval. 

  • In the first stage, the user will choose a user to accept the request, and an email should be sent out to these users.
  • In the second stage, approval is required from a set group of people (which is set using ScriptRunner), users should not get an email. As it's a set group of people, they'd receive far too many notifications.

I had a thought that i could do this using the customer request type field, setting it during the first stage and removing it for the second stage of approval. While i think this would work, it's not very elegant.

I was wondering if anyone had experienced this type of scenario before, or if they had any suggestions?
